Week 1 – Faith Under Pressure
Life is full of pressures. It can be from family, friends, career, money, relationships, and more. Pressure is not new. In fact, it has existed since Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden. Throughout the Bible we see key figures who had to deal with overwhelming pressures. Reading through the book of Psalms is a great illustration of the daily pressures of which David lived. We live in a world that is uncertain of how to best deal with the pressures of life. Thankfully, the Bible gives us examples and guidance in how to deal with the uncertainty and pressures of life in such a way, that we can find peace amid all the chaos.
Week 2 – Fear Not
We all go through difficult times in life. During those times, we often become fearful of the unknown. Fear is a powerful emotion. If unchecked, it can become the controlling force in our lives. It can create problems in our relationships, in our careers, and with our health. God does not put in us a sense of fear because He loves us. In 1 Peter 5:7 we are reminded to “Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you”. God wants to change our perspective from fear to faith as seen in scripture throughout the Bible.
Week 3 – Stand Still
In this world, we have pressures, we have fears, and we want to do something to get rid of them. Some make plans, take action and forge ahead. Others are overwhelmed and don’t know what to do. But, in the midst of our chaotic world, God tells us to “stand still” and put our faith in a His perfect plan. This is a difficult thing for many of us to do, but the Bible confirms that we should wait on the Lord in faith, and He will see us through.
Week 4 – Hold Your Peace
It would be so wonderful if life always went our way, and we lived in peace and harmony with everyone and everything. Unfortunately, that’s not the way it is, especially in a world of uncertainty. Our lives are full of things that are wrong or drive us crazy. Some of them we can control, but often, we cannot. For those things we can’t control, what do we do? Do we rant and rave or become heavy with anxiety? We know we want to have peace, and more importantly, God wants us to have it, too. So, how do we attain the peace that only God can give us? Our source and answers are found in the Bible.
Week 5 – Go Forward
We all need direction in our lives. But in uncertain times, that need is intensified. So, where do we find it? Some people look to themselves because they think they know all the answers. Others may seek the advice or help from a friend, counselor, self-help books, the list goes on and on. And though there might be legitimate help from some of the above, the bottom line is, our help and source is Jesus. The Bible lays out the best plan for our lives. We just need to have faith to step out and follow God’s Word.
