START AT THE END

This life is a prelude to the next.

1 Timothy 6:7-8
After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.

Death gives us eternal perspective.

1 John 2:17
And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

Eternal Perspective shapes our priorities.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

PRIORITIES

Proverbs 29:18 MSG
If people can’t see what God is doing [they don’t know His vision for them], they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.

Relationships

Ecclesiastes 4:9-11
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone?

Map your spiritual relationships using these categories:

  • Mentors

  • Close Friends

  • Intentional Relationships

Proverbs 13:20
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

Bible Study + Reading Plan

Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Spend time reading the Bible every day.

Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.

Tips when reading the Bible.

  1. Read it as a story about God not you.

  2. Read it as it was meant to be read.

  3. Read it all.

Any investment you make will pay off. No discipline has the potential to impact your life more than spending quality time getting to know your Bible every day. Even (and maybe especially) the parts that are weird or hard to understand.
